Jeff Bennett, founder and lead musician, has been actively involved in the Southern California music scene since the '90s, writing music and performing in classic ska bands like the Skamodores and Kingston 10. He's had the opportunity to play with and open for some of his musical heroes in the ska and reggae scene.
With a decade of experience designing sound systems for theater productions and scoring musicals, Jeff brings professional-grade technical expertise to every performance. The Counterfeits emerged from a desire to recapture the authentic connection of live music at gatherings – where the band and guests share in creating memorable moments together. We specialize in crafting performances that resonate across generations, balancing energetic favorites with thoughtful arrangements that ensure everyone from kids to grandparents can enjoy the same music together.
